USC Skull Base Center
The skull base surgery program at Keck Medicine of USC in Los Angeles provides patients with the most comprehensive care – from consultation to rehabilitation – for the treatment of a variety of tumors and other conditions located at the base of the skull, including acoustic neuroma.
Comprised of a team of specialists across a variety of disciplines, we offer minimally invasive procedures that allow for favorable outcomes while minimizing risk to nearby tissue, as well as traditional procedures. Our expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of acoustic neuromas further distinguishes our skull base surgery program.
USC Memory and Aging Center
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common, but not the only, cause of dementia. Other disorders of the brain, such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, HIV or hypothyroidism may also cause a loss of memory and intellectual abilities. The Memory and Aging Center at Keck Medicine of USC in Los Angeles provides the most advanced diagnostic and treatment services available for all causes of memory loss and loss of intellectual abilities. A comprehensive neurological evaluation is essential for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Many of our patients benefit through access to promising clinical trials and other research opportunities through the Alzheimer Disease Research Center that can result in treatments, prevention or improved diagnostic capabilities. We invite members of the public to take online brain tests via the Brain Health Registry, a tool that will help our researchers find cures for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other brain disorders.
USC Neurovascular Disorder Center
The USC Neurovascular Disorder Center is headed by leading neurosurgical experts who have some of the most extensive experience in the operative management of aneurysms and anteriovenous malformations. Our endovascularly trained neurosurgeons perform embolizations, angioplasty and stent placements. We are also staffed with interventional neuroradiologists, an integral part of the neurovascular team as well.
Our neurosurgeons are skilled in a variety of complex surgical procedures in the treatment of aneurysms/ AVMs. Other techniques have been and continue to be developed at USC to deal with special cases.

We see a large volume of patients LAC+USC Medical Center, which contributes to our breadth of experience. Many multi-center clinical trials on brain and spinal trauma are conducted by Keck Medicine of USC physician-scientists, testing the latest advances in diagnostics, monitoring and treatment of brain and spinal cord injuries.

The Brain and Spine Tumor Center at USC offers a comprehensive approach to caring for patients with brain tumors, bringing together medical neuro-oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists and neurosurgeons to provide patients with a broad range of treatment options. Such an approach can be of great benefit to patients, not only during the initial diagnosis, but also at any point during treatment. Our team approach helps to streamline patient care and implement best-practice medical decisions during treatment of complex brain tumors.
USC Chordoma Center
As chordoma is a very rare disease, most physicians may see only one or two cases in their career. Our physicians regularly see patients who have chordoma, giving us the knowledge and experience needed to design and implement a proper treatment plan. Our oncologists are renowned experts in chordoma and sarcoma, and we offer ongoing clinical trials and protocols for treatment.
The USC Chordoma Center at Keck Medicine of USC in Los Angeles offers complete management for the special type of spinal tumor known as a chordoma. Surgical therapy is based on the newest techniques in microdissection and image guidance using neuronavigational therapy. We also offer alternative therapy, such as the Gamma Knife®. Therapies including intensity-modulated radiation therapy are also available.
USC Comprehensive Epilepsy Center
Established more than 20 years ago, the USC Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is designated by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers as a Level 4 epilepsy specialist center, which indicates the center can provide care for the most complex cases. Our physicians are voted among the best in patient polls, and in 2011, our center received a Productivity and Quality Special Merit Award from the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors. Our goal is to provide accessible, multi-disciplinary care, tailoring treatments to the specific needs of each patient.
Providing world-class medical and surgical care for epilepsy across the cultural and socioeconomic spectrum of Los Angeles and beyond, the program also incorporates research and education as key components of its goal to improve knowledge of and find a cure for epilepsy.
USC Headache and Neuralgia Center
The USC Headache and Neuralgia Center provides evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of both common headache disorders such as migraine and tension headache, and uncommon headache disorders such as cluster headache. We use a comprehensive management strategy that includes multidisciplinary approaches to treat chronic headaches and a full range of headache and neuralgia related services and treatment options to fit the needs of every patient.
Our center features the only Lifestyle Redesign® program in the United States for chronic headaches, an evidence-based approach that examines a patient’s entire lifestyle (including stress, food, ergonomics and time management) to find effective treatments for headache pain and allow patients to live a pain-free, normal life. We also offer the latest techniques to break stubborn headaches and migraines when usual medications fail.
USC Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center
The USC Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center provides academically based, patient-centered programs of interdisciplinary medical care, rehabilitation and network support to multiple sclerosis patients, their families and caregivers. In addition to fellowship-trained neurologists who specialize in MS care, our team includes nurses and a nurse practitioner certified to deliver MS care, among others. We facilitate access to numerous allied health professionals (physical and occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists) who have also extensive experience with issues faced by MS patients.
We have a patient-centered program, in which patients’ needs are identified, prioritized and incorporated into a care plan for timely and strategic intervention.
USC Neurogenetics Multidisciplinary Program
Neurofibromatosis 1 and neurofibromatosis 2 are both treated at the USC Neurogenetics Center, which offers advanced treatments for patients diagnosed with neurogenetic conditions. Though patients with neurogenetic diseases may be symptom free, our specialists follow each patient so that diagnosis and treatment can occur rapidly in the event a patient develops a tumor. Our experts offer advanced surgical removal of tumors as well as the most advanced technologies in radiosurgery for tumors located in areas of the body that are inadvisable to operate.
Patients can also be considered for inclusion in clinical trials, helping to accelerate the development of new and better diagnostic and treatment tools.

USC Neuromuscular Program
Our leading experts at the USC Neuromuscular Program provide second opinion consultation, diagnostic evaluation and individualized treatment for patients with various neuromuscular disorders including the wide range of immune-mediated neuropathies, myasthenia gravis, motor neuron disease such as ALS, myopathies, diabetic neuropathies, and neuropathic pain.
The program uses a multidisciplinary approach in all evaluations, diagnosis and treatments collaborating closely with pain specialists, pulmonary medicine specialists, foregut physicians, pain and spine specialists, physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, specialty infusion nurses and social workers.

USC Trigeminal Neuralgia and Hemifacial Spasm Center
The USC Trigeminal Neuralgia and Hemifacial Spasm Center offers patients the full range of treatments for trigeminal neuralgia, including medical, invasive non-surgical and surgical options. The center has adopted techniques effective in curing the condition while reducing the risk of side effects.
Treatments include medication, injections and surgical procedures, such as microvascular decompression and GammaKnife® radiosurgery. The center also offers medical and surgical treatments for hemifacial spasms.
