Houda Boucekkine, MD, is a pulmonary and critical care physician with Keck Medicine of USC. She specializes in treating pulmonary vascular diseases, particularly pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary embolism.
For Dr. Boucekkine, the most important aspect of a doctor-patient relationship is open and compassionate communication. In her day-to-day practice, she takes time to understand not only the patient’s illness, but the patient themselves.
Dr. Boucekkine earned her medical degree at the University of Miami, then pursued an internal medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, the university’s primary teaching hospital. From there, she went on to complete a neurology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Boucekkine went on to a second internal medicine residency at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she stayed on to complete her training with a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine.
Dr. Boucekkine serves as a clinical assistant professor of medicine for the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine within the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Her research interests focus primarily on pulmonary hypertension.
Outside of work, Dr. Boucekkine stays active through hiking, biking and playing soccer. She also cherishes time with her friends, whether they’re visiting the beach or exploring new restaurants and coffee shops throughout Los Angeles.
